- 1 pound 80/20 ground beef
- 1 Large Yellow Onion
- 4 slices American Cheese
- 4 slices Mozzarella Cheese
- 2 tbsp burger seasoning
Burger Sauce
- 1 cup mayo
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp relish
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Slice the yellow onion into 4 large slices keeping the shape of the slices together.
- Season them in both sides with salt and pepper
- Assemble the burger sauce by combining all of the ingredients in a bowl then mix thoroughly until combined.
- On a hot griddle over medium high heat, add the slices of onions. Let them cook for 4-5 minutes each side until they have some char.
- Add a splash of water then cover them and let them steam for 3-4 minutes.
- Take ¼ pound burger balls and smash them down with a burger press or spatula. Make sure the burger patties are thin and not too thick. Season the burger patties with burger seasoning.
- Flip patties after 3-4 minutes then add a slice of American cheese to each side.
- Once the onions are soft, add 4 slices of mozzarella cheese directly on the griddle over medium heat.
- Place each onion on a slice of the cheese. Remove after 2 minutes, once the cheese is toasted and golden brown.
- Assemble burger with onion on the bottom, burger sauce, burger patties, more sauce and an onion on top.
