Ingredients You’ll Need for Hot Italian Grinder Sliders

Sliders:

  • 1 pack King’s Hawaiian Sweet Slider Rolls (orange pack)
  • 6 slices pepper jack cheese
  • 6 slices provolone cheese or Mozzarella cheese
  • 9-12 slices salami
  • 9-12 slices pepperoni (large deli cut)
  • 8 slices large deli ham
  • Tomato slices
  • 2 tbsp Butter, 1 tsp parsley, and 1 tsp garlic powder for brushing the top of the rolls

Creamy Grinder Salad:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 bag thinly shredded iceberg lettuce
  • Optional: sliced red onions, banana peppers, or red peppers for extra flavor

How to Make Hot Italian Grinder Sliders

Step 1: Slice and Prepare the Rolls

Start by slicing the sweet Hawaiian rolls in half using a serrated knife. Be sure to cut evenly so that the bottom half remains intact for layering. Place the bottoms in a baking dish lined with parchment paper.

Step 2: Layer the Meats and Cheeses

Now comes the fun part — building the ultimate grinder layers. Begin with the bottom half by adding the pepper jack cheese to create a gooey base.

Then, stack on salami, ham, pepperoni, and finally top with provolone cheese. The combination of deli meats and melted cheese creates a rich, savory flavor that’s impossible to resist.

This mix of Italian flavors, paired with the slight sweetness from the Hawaiian rolls, gives these Italian grinder sliders that irresistible hot-and-creamy contrast you’d find in your favorite sandwich shop.

Step 3: Add Butter Mixture and Bake

In a small bowl, combine melted butter, parsley, and garlic powder. Brush this butter mixture over the top buns for extra flavor and color.

Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is perfectly melted and the tops are golden brown. This step helps the layers of deli meat heat through, creating delicious individual sliders that are warm and cheesy.

Step 4: Make the Creamy Grinder Salad

While the sliders bake, it’s time to make that signature creamy grinder salad.

In a small bowl, start by making the creamy Italian dressing combine:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp oregano
Creamy Italian Dressing ingredients.

Whisk together all of the ingredients until smooth.

This dressing is what gives the grinder its iconic tangy, creamy texture. Then toss in the shredded lettuce and mix until fully coated. For an extra punch of flavor, add banana peppers, red onions, or red peppers to the mix.

Step 5: Assemble and Serve

Once the sliders come out of the oven, carefully remove the top buns and add sliced tomatoes followed by a generous scoop of the creamy grinder salad.

Place the tops back on, slice into individual sliders, and serve warm.

Each bite delivers a burst of melted cheese, savory meats, and crisp, tangy lettuce — just like your favorite Italian grinder, but in slider form.

Tips for Perfect Italian Grinder Sliders

  • Use quality deli meats: The better your salami, ham, and pepperoni, the richer the flavor.
  • Don’t skip the butter topping: The melted butter mixture with parsley and garlic makes the top of the rollsgolden and flavorful.
  • Add some heat: For a spicy kick, toss in extra banana peppers or drizzle with hot honey.
  • Perfect for game day: These sliders are easy to make ahead and bake right before kickoff.
  • Slice cleanly: Use a serrated knife to cut through the top buns and fillings without tearing the bread.
