How to make Grilled Jalapeno Popper Sausage Skewers

Grilled jalapeño popper sausage skewers.

Begin by getting your grill setup for direct cooking. I used my Nomad Grills for this cook and loaded it up with a full charcoal chimney.

Line up all of your brats flat in a row, then place 2 or 3 skewers through all of them ensuring they are highly secured together.

You want to avoid any gaps because later on in the cook you will add toppings and you don’t want them falling through into the fire.

Once all the brats are on skewers, place them on the grill grates over a medium heat.

Let them cook for 2-3 minutes, then flip them over and let them cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Keep a close eye on the outside of the brats to make sure that they do not burst open. If they burst open, you will lose your juices and they will dry out quicker.

When both sides have some char on them, move them indirect of the heat source and let them cook for 5-7 minutes.

Next, add the cubed softened cream cheese on top of the sausages.

Add a generous layer of freshly shredded cheddar cheese. When using freshly shredded, the cheese will always melt better.

Top them with bacon and diced jalapenos on top of the brats.

Let them cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the cream cheese softens and the cheese melts.

Remove the skewers from the grill then slice in between each skewer. Serve them up on a skewer or remove them from the skewer then place a toothpick in each one.

  1. When this recipe popped up today it reminded me we need to have these again tonight! This recipe is so easy and like you said the options are endless! The kids don’t like hot so we left the jalapeños off their side and used beef brats, it worked great they gobbled them up. It’s a win, win we like the bite, so we pile the jalapeños on ours. When the whole family is happy that makes dinner time easy!

  2. Made these and they’re absolute money. Flavors are so good… love grilling season!
