Ingredients you will need
Meat: Jalapeño Cheddar brats or any flavor brat you prefer. Italian sausage would be great alternative.
Cheese: Shredded Mozzarella and parmesan cheese
Sauce: Pizza Sauce
Toppings: Pepperoni and fresh basil.
You can easily customize these toppings to your liking such as pickled jalapeños, banana peppers, black olives and mushrooms.
How to make Pizza Sausage Skewers
Pre heat the grill and get it set for high heat cooking. I used my Nomad Grills for this cook because it’s a great size for this cook and I think that brats cooked over an open flame give off a lot of extra great flavor.
Grab 6 Jalapeño Cheddar Brats and line them up. Secure all of them together by sticking 3 metal skewers through the middle of them. Make sure that they are tightly secured together and there is no gap between them. If there is a gap, you run the risk of your pizza toppings falling through during the cook.
Grill them over direct heat for 3 minutes each side until they have some char. Monitor the sear you are putting on the brats to avoid breaking the casings and losing the juices.
Move them indirectly of the heat then spread on a layer of pizza sauce. Add 2 cups of shredded mozzarella then top them with some pepperonis. Close the lid of the grill and let them cook for 5-10 minutes.
Once the sausage reaches an internal temperature of 165° F and the cheese melts, remove them from the grill.
You can check the internal temperature of meat with an Instant Read Thermometer. This is one of the most versatile and important cooking tools in my opinion – everyone needs one!
Top the pizza sausage skewers with some freshly grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil. Slice them into bite sized pieces between the metal skewers then serve them up warm.
